Default HP 2133 Mini-Note allure

I got to play with the HP 2133 Mini-Note at Fry's yesterday (we don't have Fry's in Hawaii, so it's the first place I visit when traveling) and I can't stop thinking about. I've said time and time again that I have no personal interest in netbooks, but something about the 2133 kind of makes me want to call it my own!

I've said before that if I had to get a netbook, the HP would be my choice. This was my thinking based solely on photos, though, so it didn't mean a whole lot to me. Now that I've seen the unit in person, there's a part of me that really doesn't want to leave California without one. I've always thought the 2133 was the best-looking netbook around, but other than that, there's really no compelling reason for me to like/want it.

But now all I want to do is go to another Fry's to see which models are on display. The store we went to yesterday had only the $599 Vista Basic, 2GB RAM model. (Incidentally, the 2133 was the only netbook among a sea of notebooks and one Fujitsu U810 there.)

The 2133 doesn't seem to be a very popular netbook (presumably because of its price?), but I'm really starting to like it. Help!!

This post is too late, but I would suggest you hold out for the touchscreen netbooks that come out next year and are able to run Windows 7. Asus also has promised a netbook for US$200 in 2009!
I've also heard that the 2133 runs kind of hot.

It does tend to run fairly hot (there've been quite a few failures due to burnout), but Windows 7 seems to cure that as it runs cooler and more efficiently with longer battery life.

Once again, what differentiates the 2133 from the other netbooks is:
  1. a 120gb HD
  2. 1256x756 display
  3. gigabit ethernet
  4. metal case
  5. 94% full-size keyboard

in short, I can see why he's more interested in this than in other netbooks. I have a 2133 and I LOVE it. I must admit though, having played with Windows 7, it would be fun with a touch screen, but I'm not sure I'd actually pay extra for it.

That display does sound nice! Also a metal finish looks nice but it may scratch and dull easily.

I think about buying a mini Notebook because I really hate it to always take my 17'' notebook with me. that is pretty annoying and heavy even though I love it, but I consider it the best for the notebooks survival and for my back's health to buy myself a neat little netbook. But because of the fact that I am absolutely not confident in buying something without any kind of recommendations, I thought it would be good to ask anyone of you, if you have some good advice, which netbook is one of the best. that would help making my decision easier. thank you very much.
