Default Latest addition to the MSI Wind family: "MSI Wind Netbook Love Edition"

MSI has just announced another addition to the MSI Wind family. MSI initially offered the MSI Wind Netbook in three colors: Angel White, Empire Black and Romantic Pink. The latest addition to the family is the "MSI Wind Netbook Love Edition" special charity model. As stated by the MSI, here is a statement of what this new model features.

Quote:
In a fusion of art for charity, the "MSI Wind Netbook Love Edition" features tans, bright silver and shining gold hearts pattern on a pure white chassis to convey a sense of gentle softness. The colorful and lively heart motifs on the "MSI Wind Netbook Love Edition" also represent MSI Notebook's concern for social welfare!
With this new addition to the family, MSI has launched a new Global Charity Program called "Love With The Wind", here is what they say about their new charity program.

Quote:
Recognizing our corporate social responsibility, MSI Notebook is taking the initiative to launch the "Love with the Wind" global charity program. This will take the form of charity donations in Taiwan, China, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Korea and India to give poor children a chance to learn how to use computers.

By launching the "Love with the Wind" global charity program, MSI Notebook hopes "MSI Wind Netbook Love Edition" will make a concrete contribution to bridge the digital divide and encourage others to show their care as well.

There is no word on any other changes in specifications, it looks like the changes are only cosmetic.

I am very supportive of their charitable intentions.....but couldn't they just devote production to regaulr models that people want to buy and just give $$$ to charity. I can't think of a reason I would want to buy the "Love" edition. It's ghastly !

Can one even imagine what the Special Darfur Relief Edition Wind will look like?

This is a trend that must be mocked into submission...if MSi cares so much about cheap computers for kids they should donate a couple hundred Winds to them, or just write a freakin' check.

I am tired of companies pretending to be chartiable by selling special edition products....any loss they suffer due to the donation is more then made up for by the bump in sale from people who may have been wavering and use the "It's for charity..." excuse to pull the trigger on the purchase...not to mention the tax write-off.

I feel the same about celebrities donating prizes for auctions and sweepstakes benefiting charity. If they really feel their signature can help feed the hungry, why not put it on a check?

Rant over...carry on, nothing more to see here.

Actually I think they are kind of cute. I also think they are going for the younger female market. Can't image any guys wanting to carry anything with hearts all over it. That being said - HEY what's the big idea offering this for a limited time and in limited quantities - isn't that what all the Winds are! Limited quantities! Never did get mine. Ended up tired of waiting and pulled the trigger on a Dell D430 from ebay. Paid $630 and got lots of extra stuff like a docking station, monitor stand, external Optical and disc drive plus a mouse and awsome external keyboard! It was brand new in the never opened box. It is perfect. I love it! Sorry Wind you are "Gone with the Wind"
