I was doing one more search trying to decide to drop $600+ on this little device when I ran across the notion that the s7 is apparently, "not Windows Touch compliant."
Questions amass. 1. What does that mean? 2. How bad is it? 3. Is this fixable? 4. If not, is a new device which is compliant will be announced soon? Thanks! |

Hmm... either my question was too naive, or this device must not be as popular as I thought it was.

well...for what its worth ......i'm not an owner yet but i do have the umid m1 and i've loaded ms one note and ritepen it actually works fairly well, so as far as inking on a resistive touchscreen device with win xp home, it does work and also general touch reception is good so i imagine it will be on the s7...as far as the technicalities of being windows compliant ???, i'm not sure what you're after or why its needed ??

I'm not sure what it means, and I wish I'd saved the link because some folks were using the word "showstopper" because of it. I think I'm just going to stop pestering you guys and order one this week. Thanks!!

"Not Windows Touch Compliant" should mean that the S7, like the S5's touchscreen driver does NOT tell Windows that it's a touch screen.
It's a show stopper because Windows will not turn on some of the features that'll make using a keyboardless PC much more friendlier because of this (ie. The very useful, always complained about Touch Pointer) If I knew that the S5 was also not touch compliant I would have reconsidered my decision to get it. It's QUITE a big deal for a keyboardless PC that it should tell Windows it's a touch screen. |

My bad, I thought the S7, was the X70, but it's the same thing since the S7 can be converted to slate mode.
