Default Re: Windows 7 and the S5: How To Guide, Plus Discussion

I've installed Windows 7 7100 about 3 times so I'm pretty sure I have it down by now. Alot of people seem confused about some of the steps so I wrote a more detailed guide. PM me if you have any more questions.
http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=2592 Has all the files you'll need.

1. Install Windows 7 Build 7100 from a DVD Drive or USB Stick

I recommend using a USB Hub, External Keyboard and a Mouse till you're done installing everything.

2. Install Atom IO Control

Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager
Click the Name of your S5 then Action -> Add Legacy Hardware -> Next -> Install manually from a List
Show all Devices then hit next-> Click on Have Disk -> Find "atom_io_control.inf" which is inside System Drivers v2.1.00 Folder

3. Install S5 System Software

Find "S5_System.exe" right click and run as Administrator, everythings gonna be in Korean/Jibberish make sure you click on No when it asks to reboot (the button on the right side)

4. Install Touchscreen Drivers

Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Right Click PS/2 mouse hit Update Driver Software -> Browse my computer for driver -> Let me pick from a List of device drivers -> Click on have disk find "Touch-Vista.inf".

5. Reboot

6. Install Viliv Manager

Find "Setup_vilivManager_v1.0.1.exe" under "Original Korean S5 Software". Do not start it or reboot after its done installing, once its done installing find the folder "vilivManager" under the "English Software". There will be a zip file inside, extract it and there will be 3 files inside, copy and overwrite those files with whats inside "C:\Program Files\vilivManager".Once you have the english files copied over right click on vilivmanager.exe and run as administrator (maybe as xp compatible dont remember)
Turn on WiFi and click on viliv Manager under "Windows Start Program", windows will try to install drivers for wifi and will fail.

7. Install WiFi drivers

Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Right click on wifi adapter under Network Adapaters and select Update Driver Software -> Browse my computer for software -> Let me pick from a List of device drivers -> Click on have disk find "sd8686.inf"

8. Windows Update

Now that the wifi drivers are installed you should be able to connect to your home network, once you're connected go to Start -> All Programs -> Windows Update
Hit Check updates now, select WiFi drivers and GMA 500 Drivers and install it.

9. Install Chipset Drivers

Find the "Chipset v8.8.0.1011" Folder, extract the zip file inside, run setup.exe as administrator AND XP compatibility mode.

10. Install USB Client Drivers

Find the "USB Client" Folder, extract the zip file inside, run setup.exe as administrator AND XP compatibility mode.

11. Install GPS Drivers

Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager
Click the Name of your S5 then Action -> Add Legacy Hardware -> Next -> Install manually from a List
Show all Devices then hit next-> Click on Have Disk -> Find "GPS Drivers.inf"

12. Reboot

13. Look in your system tray for viliv manager, turn on bluetooth, all the drivers will install automatically

14. Go back to device manager, there should be 2 entries under "Atom_io_control" and "Ports" right click on the ones with a ! icon next to it and select uninstall.

15. Reboot and check device manager again, everything should be good with no conflicts and you're done.

The entire process takes a little more then an hour. After you're done installing I recommend installing the program from: http://shark007.net/win7codecs.html and MPC-HC. That will allow you to play HD files perfectly. Also WMP doesn't seem to work with Aero turned on, MPC-HC works fine with Aero turned on so I don't use WMP for any videoplayback.
